Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) Expands Its Presence with New Ginger Hotel Signing at Manohar International Airport, Goa

Mumbai, February 8, 2024 – Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), the leading hospitality giant in India, has once again set its sights on expansion with the signing of a new Ginger hotel at Manohar International Airport (MOPA) in Goa. This exciting development comes as part of IHCL’s strategic growth plan, further solidifying its position as a key player in the country’s hospitality landscape.

The landmark 60-year sub-license agreement was officially sealed between GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) and Roots Corporation Limited (RCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of IHCL. This collaboration marks a significant milestone for both parties, promising to deliver unparalleled experiences to travellers passing through Goa’s vibrant airport.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer of IHCL, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “The signing of a Ginger hotel at the new Manohar International Airport, Goa is a testament to IHCL’s commitment to expanding its footprint across key transit hubs. This venture not only meets the growing demand for premium accommodation but also signifies the beginning of a strategic partnership with the GMR Group, unlocking synergies that will redefine airport hospitality.”

The forthcoming 300-key hotel, sprawled across two acres, is poised to become a cornerstone of the Manohar International Airport’s aero-city development. Boasting a diverse array of amenities including the signature all-day diner Qmin and a state-of-the-art fitness center, the hotel aims to cater to the discerning needs of both business and leisure travellers alike. Scheduled for inauguration in 2027, this project underscores IHCL’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences.

Echoing Mr. Chhatwal’s sentiments, Mr. Aman Kapoor, CEO of Airport Land Development at GMR, emphasized the strategic significance of the partnership, remarking, “The signing of this agreement heralds the dawn of a new era in urban lifestyle experiences. GMR Goa Aerocity will emerge as a beacon of excellence, offering a holistic solution for lifestyle, entertainment, and hospitality needs. Leveraging our expertise from successful ventures like the Delhi and Hyderabad Aerocities, we are poised to redefine the standard of airport hospitality.”

Goa, renowned for its pristine beaches, vibrant nightlife, and rich cultural heritage, stands as one of India’s premier tourist destinations. Additionally, its status as a burgeoning industrial and manufacturing hub further underscores its significance as a key market for hospitality players.

With the addition of the new Ginger hotel, IHCL’s portfolio in Goa will expand to include 15 hotels, with an additional 4 properties currently under development. This move underscores IHCL’s unwavering commitment to enhancing the travel experience and further solidifies its position as a leader in the hospitality sector.
