JW Marriott Kolkata Appoints Shubham Awasthi as Director of Engineering

JW Marriott Kolkata is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Shubham Awasthi as the new Director of Engineering. With over 12 years of robust experience in hospitality engineering, Mr. Awasthi brings deep expertise in operational excellence, sustainability, and technical leadership across some of India’s most prominent luxury hotels.

In his new role, Mr. Awasthi will be responsible for overseeing all engineering, maintenance, and infrastructure operations at JW Marriott Kolkata. His focus will include energy optimization, compliance adherence, and advancing long-term sustainability initiatives. He will also play a pivotal role in executing the hotel’s CAPEX strategy while enhancing operational efficiency and overall guest satisfaction.

Prior to this, Mr. Awasthi served as Director of Engineering at Le Meridien Goa, where he spearheaded key initiatives such as energy-saving programs and MEP system upgrades. His efforts contributed to the property winning accolades, including the “Highest Saving in Water Intensity” award in 2021. His engineering leadership journey also includes impactful tenures at JW Marriott Pune, Fairfield by Marriott Indore, and Marriott Whitefield Bangalore.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Awasthi said:

A B.Tech graduate in Mechanical Engineering from Sir Padampat Singhania University, Rajasthan, Mr. Awasthi holds certifications in systems such as MESH, Transcendent, Opera, GxP, AutoCAD, and BMS. He also serves as a Transcendent Trainer for South Asia and the Maldives Market, reflecting his commitment to driving innovation and best practices across the industry.

This appointment strengthens JW Marriott Kolkata’s leadership team as the hotel continues to set new benchmarks in luxury hospitality in East India.
