The world of hospitality is abuzz with exciting news—Accor, one of the largest global hospitality groups, has appointed Ranju Alex as CEO for South Asia, a move that marks a new era of growth across India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. With over 70 hotels already operating and 30 more in the pipeline, this appointment signals Accor’s firm commitment to expanding its footprint in this fast-growing region.
With a stellar career spanning more than three decades, Ranju Alex is no stranger to shaping hospitality at scale. She began her journey with The Oberoi Group in 1993, before moving to Marriott International, where she rose to the role of Regional Vice President for South Asia, overseeing more than 170 hotels across the region.
Her remarkable contributions to the industry have been widely recognized—most notably with the Bharat Gaurav award, honoring her excellence and influence in hospitality leadership.
Earlier this year, Accor joined hands with InterGlobe in a landmark joint venture, bringing together two powerhouses of hospitality into one unified entity. Pending regulatory approvals, this alliance is expected to redefine how hospitality operates in South Asia, setting the stage for innovation, growth, and customer-centric experiences.
With Ranju Alex now at the helm, this partnership is poised to reach new heights, leveraging her vast experience to craft a robust vision for the region.
Gaurav Bhushan, Chairman of the Accor-InterGlobe JV, shared his enthusiasm:
“We are extremely pleased and excited to welcome Ranju to the Accor and InterGlobe family. Her rich experience will play a pivotal role as we aim to build the foremost hospitality platform in the region.”
His words reflect the confidence and optimism that both organizations share as they prepare for an ambitious future.
On her appointment, Ranju Alex expressed heartfelt enthusiasm:
“I am delighted to join an organization with the most comprehensive and exciting portfolio of brands in the region. It will be an honor to lead the Group’s vision here, and I eagerly look forward to this exciting role.”
