Hotel Broadway Reopens as Alivaa Collection Hotel | 70 Years of Delhi Heritage

Hotel Broadway Reopens as an Alivaa Collection Hotel — Celebrating 70 Years of Heritage, Heart & Hospitality

In a city where every street whispers a story, few landmarks carry the warmth of memories the way Hotel Broadway does. A beloved Delhi icon since 1956, the hotel now steps into a new era as it proudly reopens as an Alivaa Collection Hotel, celebrating an extraordinary 70 years of hospitality—alongside 35 years of the legendary Chor Bizarre.

Beautifully refurbished yet thoughtfully nostalgic, Broadway continues to retain the charm, character, and personal touch that have made it a favourite across three generations of travellers.

A Heritage Hotel at the Crossroads of Old & New Delhi

Just five minutes from Connaught Place and ten minutes from Old Delhi, Hotel Broadway is perfectly positioned for travellers seeking the best of both worlds—heritage, culture, history, and modern urban energy.

Inside, the rooms feature an artistic blend of Indian photography and contemporary design, with select spaces styled by renowned French artist Catherine Levy, adding colourful pops of Indian kitsch and pop art.

Guests can also unwind in the serene courtyard, an oasis ideal for morning tea, evening conversations, or quiet moments with a book.

A Journey That Began in 1956

The story of Hotel Broadway is as charming as its architecture.
In 1956, Kashmiri businessman Tirath Ram Amla purchased a property intending to build a winter home—only to realise he had to construct a hotel instead. He appointed a young architect fresh from Harvard, A. P. Kanvinde, who went on to design several of Delhi’s iconic landmarks.

When Broadway opened, it became a trailblazer in the city—complete with one of Delhi’s first lifts and an unbeatable tariff of ₹15 for a single room with meals!

Today, that legacy lives on through the stewardship of the Amla and Khattar families and now through partnership with Alivaa Hotels & Resorts.

Founder-Chairman of Old World Hospitality, Rohit Khattar, shares,
“Reopening this hotel on its 70th anniversary is deeply emotional for us. My family built it with love, and Chor Bizarre was born here. Partnering with Alivaa brings new energy to this iconic property.”

Alivaa Hotels’ Chairman & MD, Vikramjit Singh, adds,
“Our vision is to showcase the culture, history, and timeless elegance of Broadway. Every space carries the spirit of an era beautifully re-imagined for today’s traveller.”

Chor Bizarre — 35 Years of Culinary Magic

No story of Hotel Broadway is complete without Chor Bizarre, India’s first themed restaurant—and still one of its most iconic.

For 35 years, Chor Bizarre has transported guests into a whimsical “thieves’ market,” serving authentic Kashmiri cuisine and regional Indian specialties in a playful, eclectic setting.
