Christian Zandonella Takes the Helm as General Manager of Danieli, A Four Seasons Hotel, Venice
In an exciting new chapter for Venetian luxury hospitality, Danieli, A Four Seasons Hotel, Venice, has officially announced the appointment of Christian Zandonella as its new General Manager. This prestigious role marks Zandonella’s celebrated return to Italy after more than two decades of leading world-class hotels across the globe.
Perched along the storied Riva degli Schiavoni, just moments from the iconic Piazza San Marco, Hotel Danieli has long been a symbol of Venetian grandeur. Now, it is set to unveil a spectacular rebirth as it prepares for its mid-2026 reopening. The transformation is nothing short of extraordinary—spanning three interconnected palaces, including the historic 15th-century Palazzo Dandolo. With internationally acclaimed designer Pierre-Yves Rochon spearheading the redesign, guests can expect a captivating blend of timeless Venetian elegance and contemporary sophistication.
Leading Danieli Into a New Era of Luxury
As General Manager, Zandonella will guide the hotel through its highly anticipated relaunch, shaping Danieli’s next evolution into one of Italy’s most exceptional luxury destinations. By 2027, the hotel will introduce 176 beautifully reimagined rooms and suites, each celebrating the artistry of Venetian craftsmanship and offering elevated comfort for today’s discerning traveller.
What truly sets the relaunch apart is the addition of exclusive, tailor-made guest experiences. From private access to historic palazzos and secret garden tours, to lagoon explorations aboard a vintage fishing vessel, these curated journeys invite travellers to discover Venice through an intimate, authentic perspective rarely accessible to the public.
A Global Leader Returning Home
Born in South Tyrol and raised in Munich, Zandonella launched his hospitality career with a food & beverage apprenticeship before embarking on a remarkable international journey. His expertise spans Vienna, Bahrain, Toronto, Berlin, Capri, Barcelona, and Rome—leading major luxury hotels and excelling in sales, marketing, F&B innovation, and senior leadership.
Joining Danieli in January 2025, he now steps into a role that blends heritage with vision. With his global experience and passion for crafting meaningful guest experiences, Zandonella is set to redefine what luxury hospitality means in one of the world’s most magical and storied destinations.
