Colin Tait’s career reads like a map of the world’s most vibrant hospitality hubs. Originally from Scotland, he carved a niche for himself across Asia, earning recognition for his ability to blend creativity with technical precision.
One of his early career highlights was his role as the opening Bar Manager at Vesper in Bangkok—a venue that quickly rose to prominence by securing a spot on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list. This achievement not only cemented his reputation but also showcased his flair for building iconic bar identities from the ground up.
Tait’s journey didn’t stop at bar management. In Shanghai, he transitioned into entrepreneurship, co-founding Black Rock Shanghai as an Operations Partner. Inspired by the celebrated London concept, the bar became known for its refined whisky focus and innovative cocktail program.
Armed with a Diploma in Single Malt Whisky from the Edinburgh Whisky Academy, Tait curated an impressive 200-label whisky collection—demonstrating both depth and sophistication in his craft.
