The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) has announced the appointment of Vikas Kumar as the new Cluster General Manager for Taj Exotica Resort & Spa, Maldives, and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa, Maldives. With more than 25 years of experience in the global hospitality industry, Vikas Kumar brings extensive expertise in luxury hotel management, operational leadership, guest engagement, and business development. In his new role, Kumar will oversee the overall operations, business performance, guest satisfaction initiatives, and long-term strategic development of both Taj Exotica Resort & Spa and Taj Coral Reef Resort & Spa. Vikas Kumar’s hospitality career spans over two decades, during which he has held several senior management positions with internationally recognized luxury hotel brands. His expertise covers hotel operations, revenue growth, customer satisfaction, team development, and strategic planning.

Before taking charge in the Maldives, Kumar served as the General Manager of Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa, Coorg, one of IHCL’s flagship eco-luxury destinations in India. Since assuming leadership in August 2023, he played a pivotal role in improving operational efficiency, enhancing guest experiences, boosting employee engagement, and strengthening the resort’s position as a leading luxury retreat.

In addition to managing Taj Madikeri Resort & Spa, he also oversaw the regional portfolio of amã Stays & Trails properties in Coorg, demonstrating his ability to successfully manage multiple hospitality assets simultaneously.

Among his notable contributions were the introduction of electric vehicles, the establishment of an on-site frog sanctuary known as the Batracharium, and sustainability projects designed to achieve up to 90 percent green energy utilization.
