Regal, Rooted, Radiant: A Conversation with Anoop Pandey
Hospitality Tip of The Day — Leadership Feature: Industry Spotlight
Spokesperson: Anoop Pandey, Vice President & General Manager, The Leela Palace Jaipur
In conversation with Divya, CEO, Hospitality Tip of The Day
Q1. Every luxury brand has a unique DNA. What is the one thing that defines your brand and sets it apart from the competition?
Anoop Pandey: At The Leela Palace Jaipur, our DNA is rooted in “Atithi Devo Bhava,” the ancient Indian belief that a guest is an embodiment of the divine. What sets us apart is not merely the grandeur of our spaces or the precision of our service, but the soul behind every interaction. We do not simply deliver luxury; we curate an experience that feels deeply personal, culturally resonant, and emotionally lasting. The Leela ethos is about making every guest feel not just welcomed, but genuinely celebrated and that philosophy permeates every touchpoint, from the first greeting to the final farewell.
Q2. What experience can guests enjoy at your hotel that they are unlikely to find anywhere else?
Anoop Pandey: Jaipur is a living heritage, and The Leela Palace places our guests at the very heart of it. Whether it is a private sunrise tour of Amber Fort arranged exclusively for our guests, a curated evening at Jharokha where Rajasthani folk traditions come alive in an intimate setting, or a bespoke heritage trail through the city’s artisan quarters, we offer experiences that cannot be replicated because they are rooted in genuine relationships with this land and its people. We don’t just show guests Jaipur — we help them feel it.
Q3. How does your hotel incorporate local culture, heritage, or destination experiences into the guest journey?
Anoop Pandey: Culture is not an amenity at The Leela Palace Jaipur — it is the architecture of the entire guest experience. From the moment guests arrive, they are immersed in the artistry of Rajputana heritage: hand-blocked textiles, traditional Rajasthani motifs, and craftsmanship sourced from the very communities that have kept these traditions alive for generations. Our culinary offerings celebrate the bold, aromatic legacy of royal Rajasthani cuisine. Our experiential programmes — from turban-tying ceremonies to block printing sessions — are designed to create a genuine cultural dialogue, not a performance. We believe luxury travel should leave guests with a deeper understanding of where they have been.
Q4. What is the most memorable guest experience or success story that perfectly represents your brand values?
Anoop Pandey: There are many, but the ones that stay with me longest are the quiet ones — a guest who mentioned offhandedly that it was their anniversary, only to return to their room to find it transformed with marigolds and candles; a family celebrating a patriarch’s 80th birthday who told us at checkout that they felt like royalty without ever asking for it. These moments are not scripted. They happen because our team is trained not just to listen, but to notice to anticipate what a guest needs before they articulate it themselves. That instinct, I believe, is the truest expression of The Leela’s promise.
Q5. If you could describe your hotel experience in three words, what would they be and why?
Anoop Pandey: Regal. Rooted. Radiant.
Regal — because The Leela Palace Jaipur carries the grace and grandeur of a Rajputana palace, where every detail is curated to the highest standard. Rooted — because everything we do draws deeply from the cultural and spiritual heritage of this magnificent city. And Radiant — because the warmth of our people, the colour of our spaces, and the energy of Jaipur itself creates an experience that simply glows. Together, these three words capture not just what we offer, but what we stand for.
