With over 35 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Alex Pichel will be overseeing the hotel operation and management functions of the iconic five-star property in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi Hotel & Residences Emirates Pearl has named Alex Pichel as its new General Manager, bringing a wealth of global hospitality expertise to the role. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades, Pichel is poised to lead the property into a new chapter of refined luxury and elevated guest service.
Starting his career in 1988 as a bellboy at the Bristol Hotel Kempinski, Pichel has cultivated a deep, authentic approach to hospitality by working across various roles and leading high-performing teams. He first stepped into a General Manager role in 2006 at Hyatt Regency Bishkek, and has since helmed leadership positions at prestigious brands such as Fairmont, Rosewood, Rocco Forte Hotels, Kempinski, and most recently, NUO Hotels in Beijing.
Rejoining the Hyatt family is a meaningful return for Pichel, who describes the move as a “homecoming.” His connection with the brand is rooted in years of shared values, strong professional relationships, and early influences—including mentorship under Michael Gray during his time at Hyatt Carlton Tower in London.
“Hospitality is about teamwork, shared purpose, and a unified vision,” Pichel remarked. In his new role, he will focus on enhancing the overall guest journey, optimizing service standards, and positioning Grand Hyatt Abu Dhabi as a benchmark for luxury in the region.
Away from his professional life, Alex is a divemaster, devoted family man, and avid explorer. His lifestyle and leadership style align with Grand Hyatt’s philosophy of crafting unforgettable, meaningful experiences for guests.
