Empathy, Excellence & Impact: Medhatithi Bhattacharjee Honoured as a Commendable General Manager at Top 20 GM Awards 2025
In an era where the hospitality industry is being reshaped by technology, sustainability, and ever-evolving guest expectations, leadership rooted in empathy and purpose stands out. Medhatithi Bhattacharjee, Cluster General Manager of Namah Resort Jim Corbett (Radisson Individuals) and Namah Nainital (Radisson Individual Retreats), is one such leader whose journey exemplifies people-first hospitality balanced with strong commercial acumen.
Recognising his exceptional contribution, Hospitality Tip of the Day has honoured Medhatithi Bhattacharjee as a Commendable General Manager at the Top 20 General Manager Awards 2025. The recognition celebrates his people-centric leadership, robust business performance, and deep commitment to sustainable and responsible hospitality.
At the heart of Medhatithi’s leadership philosophy lies empathy, integrity, and respect—for his teams, guests, and the communities he serves. One of the most defining milestones of his career has been the successful transformation and rebranding of Namah properties into the Radisson portfolio. What makes this achievement truly remarkable is that the transition was completed without losing a single employee. Instead, the entire team was upskilled to meet Radisson’s global brand standards.
This seamless integration not only elevated guest experiences and operational excellence but also strengthened team morale. The results speak for themselves: the property achieved an outstanding 97% Employee Engagement Score in the Radisson Listen Survey, placing it among Radisson’s best-performing hotels globally. It is a clear reflection of Medhatithi’s belief that empowered teams create exceptional guest experiences.
While people remain at the core of his leadership, Medhatithi has also demonstrated exceptional financial discipline. Under his guidance, the hotel recorded a 38% increase in total revenue, growing from ₹14.25 crore in FY 2023–24 to ₹19.75 crore in FY 2024–25. Even more impressive is the 73% growth in Gross Operating Profit, which rose from ₹4.10 crore to ₹7.10 crore during the same period.
These figures highlight his rare ability to balance compassionate leadership with commercial performance—proving that prioritising people and profitability can go hand in hand.
Medhatithi believes that open communication and recognition are key drivers of performance. He has introduced several innovative engagement initiatives such as Voice of the Guest Champion, Super Stars – Wall of Fame, Chai Par Charcha, and Fun Time on the Job. These programs have significantly improved motivation, accountability, and job satisfaction, while also helping reduce attrition.
One of the most impactful initiatives has been HOD Life Journey Sharing, where department heads share their personal career stories with team members. This initiative has fostered inspiration, emotional connection, and a strong sense of belonging—transforming the workplace into a truly inclusive and supportive environment.
Medhatithi’s leadership extends beyond hotel walls. Sustainability and community engagement are deeply woven into daily operations. The hotel actively supports local farmers by sourcing fresh ingredients for its breakfast offerings, celebrates regional cuisine, and creates employment opportunities for youth from nearby villages such as Kunkhet—helping address migration challenges in the hills.
These meaningful efforts earned the property the Hotel Sustainability Basics (HSB) Certification in 2025, a globally recognised program supported by the World Travel & Tourism Council, acknowledging hotels that make a measurable impact on the planet and local communities.
Operational excellence and guest satisfaction remain key pillars of Medhatithi’s success. Within just one year, the hotel achieved a 38% increase in room revenue, an 18-point rise in occupancy, a 38% growth in RevPAR, and a 40% increase in F&B revenue.
Guest satisfaction stands at an exceptional 96.8%—the highest in Jim Corbett. The property also received MMT Certification with a 4.4/5 rating and Hotels.com Exceptional Certification with a 9.8/10 guest score in 2024. Adding to these accolades, Medhatithi himself was honoured with the Young GM of the Year Award 2025 by Hotelier India.
Medhatithi Bhattacharjee’s journey is a powerful example of modern hospitality leadership—where empathy meets excellence, and purpose drives performance. His ability to transform brands, nurture talent, support communities, and deliver consistent results makes him a truly Commendable General Manager and an inspiration for the next generation of hospitality leaders.
As the industry continues to evolve, leaders like Medhatithi remind us that sustainable success is built not just on numbers, but on people, culture, and meaningful impact.
