Marriott International Appoints Kumar Shobhan as GM of The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat & Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata

Marriott International has announced the appointment of Kumar Shobhan as the Multi-Property General Manager for The Westin Kolkata Rajarhat and Fairfield by Marriott Kolkata. With more than 25 years of extensive experience in the hospitality industry, Shobhan brings a remarkable blend of operational expertise, commercial insight, and people-centric leadership to his new role.

A seasoned hospitality professional, Shobhan has built an impressive career working with some of the most respected names in the industry. His professional journey includes significant contributions to globally recognised brands such as Hyatt, Taj Hotels, and The Imperial. Over the years, he has developed deep expertise across Operations, Sales & Marketing, Revenue Management, Food & Beverage, and Guest Experience Enhancement.

An alumnus of Institute of Hotel Management Goa, Shobhan began his hospitality career in 2000 as an F&B associate at Hyatt Regency Delhi. Since then, he has played a key role in leading pre-opening projects, hotel renovations, and transformative guest experience initiatives across multiple hospitality properties.

In 2017, Shobhan achieved a major milestone in his career when he took on his first General Manager role in his hometown, successfully spearheading the launch of Hyatt Regency Lucknow. His ability to drive operational efficiency while fostering strong workplace cultures has earned him immense respect within the hospitality sector.

Known for his grounded and thoughtful leadership style, Shobhan strongly believes that exceptional hospitality is built on consistency, attention to detail, and empowered teams.
