Marriott India Achieves Ambitious Environmental Milestone
Marriott India has taken another significant step toward environmental sustainability by successfully fulfilling its World Environment Day 2026 commitment to plant 125,000 trees across its extensive network of more than 200 hotels throughout the country. The achievement highlights the hospitality giant’s unwavering dedication to creating a greener future while actively contributing to environmental conservation and community development.
The initiative builds upon the remarkable success of 2025, when Marriott India reached its goal of planting 100,000 trees. This year, the company raised the bar with an enhanced “Four Trees Per Room” commitment, demonstrating its continued focus on generating measurable and lasting environmental impact.
Thousands of Associates Unite for a Greener India
The nationwide campaign witnessed enthusiastic participation from Marriott associates across India. A total of 7,713 associates volunteered more than 21,000 hours toward tree plantation drives and environmental conservation efforts.
With a portfolio comprising over 30,000 rooms, Marriott India leveraged the collective strength of its hotels and employees to achieve this ambitious milestone. The initiative showcased the company’s belief that meaningful environmental change is possible when organizations, communities, and individuals work together toward a common goal.
Supporting Biodiversity and Climate Resilience
Marriott India collaborated with local authorities, environmental organizations, NGOs, and community partners to conduct tree plantation drives across various cities and regions. These efforts were strategically designed to restore green cover, support biodiversity, strengthen local ecosystems, and contribute to long-term climate resilience.
By planting native and environmentally suitable species, the initiative aims to deliver benefits that extend beyond carbon sequestration, including improved air quality, enhanced ecological balance, and healthier communities.
Leadership Speaks on Sustainability Commitment
Commenting on the achievement, Sanjay Gupta, Chairman of the Marriott India Business Council, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to responsible business practices.
“At Marriott India, sustainability is not simply an initiative—it is a responsibility that is deeply embedded in how we operate and engage with our communities. Following the achievement of planting 100,000 trees last year, we challenged ourselves to go even further through our Four Trees Per Room commitment. The enthusiastic participation of our associates and hotels across the country reflects our collective commitment to environmental stewardship. Together, we are creating a greener future while contributing meaningfully to the wellbeing of our communities and the planet.”
His statement reflects Marriott India’s broader vision of integrating sustainability into every aspect of its operations while encouraging collective action toward environmental preservation.

This partnership reflects the hotel’s commitment to combining sustainability efforts with positive social impact at the local level.
Sustainability Beyond Tree Plantation
While the tree plantation campaign marks a significant milestone, Marriott India’s sustainability efforts extend far beyond a single initiative. Across its hotels, the company continues to implement responsible practices focused on energy efficiency, water conservation, waste reduction, sustainable sourcing, and community-led environmental programs.
These ongoing efforts align with Marriott’s global sustainability goals and demonstrate the company’s commitment to creating long-term value for both the environment and society.
