Minor Hotels Expands Thailand Portfolio with Asia’s First Colbert Collection and New Avani Koh Phangan Resort

Minor Hotels Strengthens Southern Thailand Presence with Two New Resort Signings

Thailand’s tourism landscape is set to welcome two exciting hospitality developments as Minor Hotels announces the signing of two new resort properties in partnership with Rasa Group. The agreement marks a significant milestone for the global hospitality company, introducing the first-ever Colbert Collection property in Asia while expanding the popular Avani brand in one of Thailand’s most sought-after island destinations.

The dual signing reinforces Minor Hotels’ long-term commitment to Southern Thailand and reflects the growing demand for premium leisure experiences among international travelers.

Colbert Collection Makes Its Asian Debut on Koh Samui

One of the most notable aspects of the announcement is the arrival of Colbert Collection in Asia for the very first time. The new property, Colbert Collection Koh Samui, will be located on the famous Chaweng Beach, one of the island’s most vibrant and picturesque coastal destinations.

Currently operating as Buri Rasa Village Samui, the boutique beachfront resort will officially transition to Minor Hotels management on 1 May 2026. Following an extensive renovation program, the resort is expected to reopen under the Colbert Collection brand during the first quarter of 2027.

The intimate 32-key resort will offer guests a refined and design-focused hospitality experience that celebrates local culture, authentic storytelling, and the natural beauty of Koh Samui. Visitors can expect curated culinary experiences, wellness offerings, a swimming pool, fitness facilities, and rejuvenating spa treatments, all designed to create meaningful connections with the destination.

Its strategic location, just minutes from Samui International Airport, makes it an attractive choice for travelers seeking convenience and luxury. The resort will join Minor Hotels’ growing portfolio on the island, further strengthening the company’s presence in one of Thailand’s most popular beach destinations.

Avani Koh Phangan Brings Fresh Hospitality Experiences to the Island

Alongside the Koh Samui development, Minor Hotels has also signed Avani Koh Phangan, a new beachfront resort located on the stunning Thong Nai Pan Noi Beach.

The property currently operates as Buri Rasa Village Phangan and will transition to Minor Hotels management on 1 May 2026. A phased renovation program will follow, with the official rebranding to Avani planned for early 2027.

The upcoming resort will feature 63 stylish guestrooms, including oceanfront accommodations and pool-access options. Guests will also enjoy a variety of lifestyle-focused amenities such as dining venues, a beachfront swimming pool, AvaniKids Club, and an AvaniFit Gym.

One of the resort’s key advantages is its proximity to Anantara Rasananda Koh Phangan Villas. This neighboring luxury property creates opportunities for operational efficiencies and enhanced guest experiences while strengthening Minor Hotels’ footprint on the island.

Growing Demand Fuels Expansion in Southern Thailand

Southern Thailand continues to attract travelers from around the world thanks to its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and world-class hospitality offerings. The latest expansion reflects Minor Hotels’ strategy of investing in destinations that demonstrate strong tourism potential and long-term growth opportunities.

Speaking about the announcement, Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels and Group CEO of Minor International, highlighted the strategic importance of the dual signing.

According to Rajakarier, introducing Colbert Collection to Asia while expanding the Avani portfolio in Koh Phangan enables the company to diversify its offerings across premium lifestyle and soft-brand segments in destinations experiencing strong international demand.

The move also supports Minor Hotels’ broader vision of delivering distinctive hospitality experiences tailored to evolving traveler preferences.

Partnership with Rasa Group Focuses on Long-Term Value

The collaboration between Minor Hotels and Rasa Group represents more than just a management agreement. It reflects a shared ambition to create unique hospitality destinations that combine innovation, thoughtful development, and sustainable value creation.

Rapi Pinijchob, CEO of Rasa Group, emphasized that the partnership aligns with the company’s vision of transforming hospitality assets into high-performing destinations that resonate with modern travelers.

As travel trends continue to evolve, both organizations see significant opportunities to elevate guest experiences while maximizing the long-term potential of these island resorts.

Colbert Collection Continues Global Expansion Journey

The launch of Colbert Collection Koh Samui marks another important chapter in the growth of Minor Hotels’ newest luxury soft-brand concept.

Designed for independent luxury properties, Colbert Collection brings together hotels that share a commitment to cultural authenticity, culinary excellence, meaningful storytelling, and destination-inspired experiences. Rather than following a standardized approach, the brand focuses on preserving each property’s unique identity while benefiting from global hospitality expertise.

The Asian debut follows the previously announced opening of The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London Colbert Collection, which is scheduled to welcome guests later in 2026.

Minor Hotels Accelerates Growth Through Strategic Partnerships

These latest signings further demonstrate Minor Hotels’ commitment to expanding through management and franchise partnerships in high-potential leisure markets around the world.

By combining local partnerships with its extensive global distribution network, operational expertise, and diverse brand portfolio, the company continues to strengthen its position as one of the hospitality industry’s leading players.

With the arrival of Colbert Collection in Asia and the expansion of the Avani brand in Koh Phangan, travelers can look forward to even more unique and memorable experiences across Thailand’s stunning southern islands.
