Star Air Launches Direct Ahmedabad–Mundra Flights, Strengthening Gujarat’s Air Connectivity
Star Air is set to strengthen air connectivity across Gujarat with the launch of direct flights between Ahmedabad and Mundra, beginning 17 August 2026. The new route will create a faster and more convenient connection between Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s major commercial hub, and Mundra, one of the country’s most important port and industrial centres.
The new Ahmedabad–Mundra flight service is expected to benefit business travellers, professionals, entrepreneurs, families and industries that regularly travel between the two destinations.
Ahmedabad–Mundra Flights to Begin from 17 August
The new direct service will connect Ahmedabad Airport (AMD) with Mundra Airport (MDA) three times a week. Flights will operate every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with an early morning departure from Ahmedabad and an evening return flight from Mundra.
This schedule has been planned to provide greater flexibility for travellers, particularly those visiting Mundra for business and industrial purposes.
The flight schedule is:
| Flight | Route | Departure | Arrival | Days |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| S5 628 | Ahmedabad (AMD) – Mundra (MDA) | 06:40 | 07:30 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday |
| S5 629 | Mundra (MDA) – Ahmedabad (AMD) | 18:40 | 19:30 | Monday, Wednesday, Friday |
With a flight time of just 50 minutes, the new service offers a significantly faster alternative to travelling between Ahmedabad and Mundra by road.
A Faster Link Between Two Key Gujarat Economic Centres
Ahmedabad has long been one of Gujarat’s most important commercial and economic centres. The city has developed into a major destination for businesses, entrepreneurs, students and professionals, supported by its strong industrial base, financial ecosystem, educational institutions and growing startup community.
Mundra, meanwhile, has transformed dramatically over the years. Located along Gujarat’s Kutch coast, the city is home to India’s largest private port and has become a major centre for logistics, trade, manufacturing and exports.
The growth of the Mundra port has also encouraged industrial development in the surrounding region, attracting investment and creating employment opportunities. Its connectivity to national and international markets makes Mundra an important part of India’s wider logistics network.
Star Air’s New Route to Support Business Travel
The launch of direct Ahmedabad–Mundra flights is particularly significant for business travellers who frequently need to move between Gujarat’s commercial and industrial hubs.
Until now, travellers making the journey have largely depended on road transportation or less convenient travel options. The new direct flight provides a quicker alternative, allowing passengers to complete the journey in around 50 minutes.
Speaking about the launch, Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial & Marketing Officer at Star Air, said that the new service represents more than simply an additional flight route.
According to Bhatia, the Ahmedabad–Mundra connection is intended to create a strategic link between two important economic centres while making travel faster and more convenient for businesses, entrepreneurs and communities.
How the Ahmedabad–Mundra Route Could Benefit Gujarat
Improved air connectivity can play an important role in supporting regional economic growth. For Gujarat, the new route could make it easier for business leaders, professionals and investors to travel between Ahmedabad and the Kutch region.
The service could also prove useful for industries associated with Mundra’s port, logistics and manufacturing ecosystem. Faster passenger connectivity can help businesses manage meetings, site visits and time-sensitive operations more efficiently.
For individual travellers, the route offers another convenient option for reaching Mundra without spending several hours on the road.
The new connection therefore has the potential to support not only passenger travel but also the broader business and logistics ecosystem around Mundra.
