Hilton Head Island, South Carolina: The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa has appointed Abigail Gravgaard as Complex Director of Sales and Marketing, bringing an experienced Marriott International executive into a key leadership role as the Hilton Head Island property prepares for a series of planned enhancements.
Gravgaard will lead sales and marketing efforts for the resort at an important point in its evolution. The upcoming improvements are set to touch several aspects of the guest experience, including the arrival experience, dining outlets, wellness facilities, events and gathering spaces.
Experienced Marriott Executive Brings Hotel Transformation Expertise
Gravgaard has built her hospitality career within the Marriott International portfolio, gaining experience across sales, marketing and hotel repositioning. Most recently, she was involved with the repositioning of The Westin Charlotte, following the property’s $50 million renovation.
Her experience working alongside a property through a major transformation gives her valuable insight into how refreshed facilities can be translated into a stronger commercial position. At Hilton Head Island, that background is expected to support the resort as it develops its next chapter.
Leadership Role Extends to Savannah Property
Gravgaard’s responsibilities will extend beyond Hilton Head Island. In her new role, she will also support sales and marketing initiatives for The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort & Spa in Savannah, Georgia.
The dual-property responsibility gives Gravgaard an opportunity to shape commercial strategies across two Westin hotels in the region while strengthening their positioning among leisure travelers, groups and event guests.
The Westin Hilton Head Island Prepares for Its Next Chapter
The appointment comes as The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa prepares to enhance several areas of its operation. The planned improvements are expected to focus on the overall guest journey while building on the resort’s existing appeal around leisure, wellness and group experiences.
For a destination such as Hilton Head Island, where travelers increasingly look for memorable stays that combine relaxation, wellness, dining and recreation, strong sales and marketing leadership will be important in communicating the property’s evolving identity.
A Strong Addition to the Resort’s Leadership Team
A graduate of Johnson & Wales University, Gravgaard brings extensive knowledge of Marriott International and a background in hotel sales, marketing and repositioning to her new position.
Her experience at The Westin Charlotte, combined with her expanded responsibilities in Hilton Head Island and Savannah, positions her to play an important role in driving visibility and commercial growth for both properties.
As The Westin Hilton Head Island Resort & Spa moves forward with its planned enhancements, Gravgaard’s leadership will help position the resort for its next phase and strengthen its appeal to leisure travelers, groups and event planners seeking a Westin experience in the Southeast.
