Diego Padula Appointed General Manager of The Cape Cabo San Lucas

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — The Cape, A Thompson Hotel has appointed seasoned hospitality executive Diego Padula as its new General Manager, bringing more than two decades of international experience in luxury and lifestyle hospitality to the celebrated Cabo San Lucas property.

A Career Built Across International Luxury Markets

A native of Uruguay, Padula has built a diverse hospitality career spanning multiple international destinations. His experience includes hotel openings, operational leadership and the development of high-end guest experiences, with roles at internationally recognized brands including W, Mondrian and Le Méridien.

Throughout his career, Padula has worked across different cultures and hospitality markets, giving him a broad understanding of the operational and guest-experience demands of luxury hotels.

Leadership at Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa

Before joining The Cape, Padula served as General Manager of Kimpton Grand Roatán Resort & Spa in Honduras. During his time at the resort, he played a key role in its post-opening development and helped strengthen its presence within the international luxury travel market.

Under his leadership, the resort gained recognition from leading travel publications and hospitality platforms, further establishing its profile among luxury travelers visiting the Caribbean.

Experience in Hotel Openings

Padula’s career includes extensive experience in launching new hospitality concepts and establishing hotel operations from the ground up. He previously served as the Opening General Manager of Soho House Mexico City and Mondrian Mexico City Condesa, where he helped guide the properties through their opening phases.

His international portfolio also includes experience in the Middle East. As Opening Director of Operations for W Dubai Mina Seyahi, Padula was involved in preparing the property for its launch and establishing operational standards for the luxury lifestyle brand.

Earlier in his career, he was also part of the opening team at W Muscat in Oman, an experience that strengthened his ability to adapt luxury hospitality operations to local cultures and market expectations.

In his new role at The Cape, Padula will oversee the hotel’s overall operations while continuing to develop its identity as one of Cabo San Lucas’ distinctive luxury lifestyle destinations.

His background in hotel openings, operational transformation and luxury guest experiences is expected to bring valuable expertise to the property as it continues to evolve within the competitive Los Cabos hospitality market.
