YOTEL has appointed hospitality industry veteran James Thomas as General Manager of YOTEL Washington DC, effective August 3, 2026. Bringing more than 26 years of experience in hotel operations and leadership, Thomas joins the property with extensive knowledge of the Washington, DC and Maryland hospitality markets.
James Thomas Brings More Than 26 Years of Hospitality Experience
In his new role, Thomas will oversee the day-to-day operations of YOTEL Washington DC, with responsibility for the hotel’s overall performance, operational standards and team leadership. He will also focus on identifying new opportunities for growth while maintaining the modern, technology-driven guest experience that YOTEL is known for.
His appointment comes at a time when travelers are increasingly looking for hotels that combine convenience, contemporary design and efficient service. Thomas’ operational background is expected to support YOTEL Washington DC as it continues to cater to both business and leisure travelers.
Leadership Experience Across Major Washington and Maryland Hotels
Before joining YOTEL, Thomas served as General Manager of the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel, where he was responsible for operations at the 622-room property. Managing a large full-service hotel gave him valuable experience in overseeing complex operations, leading teams and delivering consistent guest service.
His career has also included senior leadership positions at several prominent hotels across the region. These include Motto by Hilton Washington DC Downtown, Washington Marriott Capitol Hill, Hampton Inn & Suites Washington DC – Navy Yard and The Westin Washington National Harbor.
This broad portfolio of experience has given Thomas a strong understanding of the different needs of today’s hotel guests, from corporate travelers and meetings groups to leisure visitors exploring the nation’s capital.
