India’s culinary community is preparing for another major celebration of talent, creativity and craftsmanship as the Indian Culinary Forum (ICF) brings back its Annual Chef Awards for the 23rd edition. Scheduled to take place on 31 October 2026 at Le Méridien, New Delhi, the event will bring together chefs, culinary professionals, students and hospitality experts from across the country.
Held around the celebrations of International Chefs Day, the 23rd Annual Chef Awards 2026 will combine culinary competitions, professional recognition and industry conversations under one platform. Staying true to the philosophy of “from chefs, by chefs and for chefs,” the awards continue to provide professionals with an opportunity to showcase their skills while celebrating the wider culinary community.
Chef Awards Continue a Two-Decade Legacy
For more than 20 years, the Chef Awards have established themselves as an important platform for culinary professionals looking to test their abilities, compete with peers and gain recognition within the industry. The awards also encourage chefs to continually develop their technical skills while embracing creativity, discipline and innovation in the kitchen.
Over the years, the platform has played a role in highlighting both established professionals and emerging culinary talent. By bringing chefs together through competition and knowledge sharing, the event aims to contribute to the continued growth and recognition of India’s culinary profession.
Nominations Open Across 18 Award Categories
Nominations for the 2026 edition are currently open, with entries being accepted until 20 September 2026. This year’s awards will recognise culinary professionals across 18 categories, divided into six Top Chef Awards and 12 Master Chef competition categories.
The Top Chef Awards are based on nominations, with winners selected by the Grand Jury. In contrast, the Master Chef categories are designed around practical culinary competitions and trade tests, giving participants the opportunity to demonstrate their skills in a competitive environment.
Master Chef Competitions Put Culinary Skills to the Test
The Master Chef competitions will focus on several aspects of professional kitchen performance, including culinary skills, creativity, presentation, hygiene and discipline. Participants will be assessed on parameters such as mise-en-place, wastage, visual appeal, taste, texture and overall culinary execution.
The judging process will follow defined criteria, allowing jury members to evaluate participants against consistent professional standards. This approach is intended to maintain fairness across the different competitions while giving chefs a meaningful opportunity to demonstrate their expertise.
Adding another incentive to this year’s competition, Master Chef category winners will receive a ₹20,000 cash prize for the first time. The introduction of prize money gives participants an additional reason to compete while recognising the time, preparation and skill required to perform at a high level.
ICF Invites Chefs and Culinary Students to Participate
Chef Davinder Kumar, President of the Indian Culinary Forum, highlighted the organisation’s continued focus on chefs and their professional development.
“The Chef Awards have always been about the chefs and their craft. Over the years, they have given professionals a platform to showcase their abilities, challenge themselves and learn from their peers,” he said.
According to Kumar, the introduction of prize money for the Master Chef categories adds another incentive for professionals to participate. He also encouraged chefs and culinary students from across India to come forward and take part in the 23rd edition.
14th Knowledge Summit to Explore the Future of Culinary Hospitality
Beyond the competitions and awards, the 2026 edition will also feature the 14th Knowledge Summit, bringing together hospitality experts and renowned chefs to discuss the changing landscape of the culinary industry.
The summit will be held at the same venue ahead of the awards ceremony and will provide an opportunity for professionals to exchange ideas, discuss emerging trends and examine some of the key issues influencing the future of the culinary sector.
The addition of the Knowledge Summit gives the event an educational dimension, ensuring that the Chef Awards are not only about competition and recognition but also about learning and industry dialogue.
A Platform for Professional Growth and Industry Exchange
Chef Vivek Saggar, General Secretary of the Indian Culinary Forum, emphasised the importance of continuous learning and professional development for chefs.
“A chef’s growth is built through constant practice, learning and the willingness to keep raising one’s own standards,” he said, adding that the Master Chef competitions allow professionals to put their abilities to the test, while the Top Chef Awards recognise experience and long-term contribution.
The Knowledge Summit, he noted, further strengthens the event by creating a space where professionals can exchange ideas and discuss the direction of the culinary profession.
Six Top Chef Awards to Recognise Industry Leaders
The six Top Chef Awards will honour professionals for their achievements, experience and contributions to the culinary and academic fields.
The categories include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Golden Hat Chef Award, Silver Hat Chef Award, Academic Chef of the Year Award, Pastry Chef of the Year Award and the Shri. Anil Bhandari Memorial – Chef of the Year Award.
Each category has specific eligibility requirements based on factors such as professional experience, qualifications and the nature of the candidate’s role within the culinary or academic sector.
12 Master Chef Categories Cover Diverse Culinary Disciplines
The Master Chef competitions will showcase a broad range of culinary disciplines, reflecting the diversity of skills required across professional kitchens.
The 12 categories include Master Chef International Confectionary, Master Chef Oriental Cuisine, Master Chef North Indian Cuisine, Master Chef South/East/West Indian Cuisine, Master Chef Indian Sweets, Master Chef Kebabs, Master Chef International Cuisine, Master Chef Baker, Vegetable Carving, Master Butcher, Student of the Year Male and Student of the Year Female.

Awards Ceremony to Conclude with a Gala Dinner
The 23rd Annual Chef Awards 2026 will conclude with an Awards Ceremony and Gala Night featuring a Gourmet Dinner. The evening is expected to bring together culinary professionals from across India to celebrate the achievements of chefs and recognise the talent shaping the country’s hospitality industry.
For participants, the evening will mark the culmination of the competitions and nominations, while for the wider industry, it will serve as an opportunity to celebrate the people working behind the scenes to shape India’s evolving food and hospitality landscape.
