Pacific Harbour, Fiji | September 2026
Nanuku Resort Fiji has announced the promotion of Vuli Cakacaka to General Manager, marking a new chapter for the luxury resort and its leadership team. Managed by Storey Hospitality, the five-star property has promoted Cakacaka following his tenure as Resort Manager, a position he has held since joining Nanuku in 2024.
With more than 23 years of hospitality experience, Cakacaka brings extensive knowledge of Fiji’s tourism industry, combined with international exposure across different hospitality markets. His appointment reflects both his contribution to Nanuku Resort Fiji and his progression as a Fijian hospitality leader.
A Fijian Hospitality Career Built on Experience
Born on the remote island of Vatoa in Fiji’s Lau Group and raised in Suva, Cakacaka developed a strong connection with Fiji’s communities, traditions and diverse cultural heritage from an early age. These experiences have played an important role in shaping his approach to hospitality and leadership.
His career began in Suva before taking him to Fiji’s outer islands and international destinations. Over more than two decades, he has gained experience across a variety of hospitality environments, developing an understanding of resort operations, guest expectations and team leadership.
This combination of local knowledge and international experience provides a strong foundation for his new role at Nanuku Resort Fiji.
From Resort Manager to General Manager
Cakacaka joined Nanuku Resort Fiji in 2024 as Resort Manager, becoming closely involved in the resort’s daily operations and guest experience. During his time in the position, he worked across various aspects of the property while supporting the resort’s service standards and operational performance.
His promotion to General Manager represents the next step in that journey. In his new position, Cakacaka will oversee the resort’s overall operations, guest experience and financial performance while continuing to support the teams responsible for delivering Nanuku’s luxury offering.
His responsibilities will span the many elements that shape the guest experience, from operational standards and service delivery to team development and financial performance.
People at the Heart of His Leadership
A key part of Cakacaka’s leadership philosophy is the importance of empowering people. He believes that exceptional hospitality starts with capable, confident and motivated teams.
For Cakacaka, giving colleagues the opportunity to take ownership of the guest experience is an important part of creating meaningful service. This people-focused approach is particularly relevant at Nanuku, where the resort’s identity is closely connected to Fijian culture and community.
By developing its people and encouraging them to take responsibility, the resort can create experiences that feel personal rather than simply following a standard luxury service model.
Keeping Fijian Culture at the Centre
Nanuku Resort Fiji has built its identity around combining luxury with a strong sense of place. Its connection to Fijian culture and local communities is an important part of the overall guest experience.
Rather than positioning culture as an additional element of a holiday, the resort incorporates authentic Fijian traditions and experiences into the stay. This approach allows visitors to experience the destination while gaining a deeper appreciation of the people and culture that make Fiji distinctive.
With Cakacaka now leading the property, this connection is expected to remain an important part of Nanuku’s direction.
Luxury Designed for Every Generation
Nanuku Resort Fiji has established itself as an award-winning luxury destination with a focus on immersive experiences and family-friendly luxury. The resort provides an environment where guests across different generations can enjoy Fiji together while experiencing the service and facilities associated with a five-star property.
Its positioning combines relaxation, cultural experiences and personalised hospitality, creating a resort experience that extends beyond traditional luxury.
Cakacaka’s background across Fiji and international hospitality markets gives him an understanding of both international traveller expectations and the importance of maintaining the distinctive character of a Fijian resort.
Developing Leadership from Within
Cakacaka’s promotion also highlights the value of developing leadership talent within a property. After joining Nanuku as Resort Manager in 2024, he has progressed to the resort’s highest operational leadership position.
This provides continuity for the property while allowing its leadership team to build on the work already undertaken during his time as Resort Manager.
His understanding of Nanuku’s operations, team and guest experience means he enters the General Manager role with existing knowledge of the property and its culture.
Focus on Operational Excellence and Guest Experience
As General Manager, Cakacaka will focus on maintaining strong operational standards while supporting the resort’s financial health and continuing to develop its people.
Ensuring that each guest interaction reflects the warmth and authenticity associated with Fijian hospitality will remain an important part of the resort experience.
His leadership will therefore bring together several key priorities: operational excellence, financial performance, colleague development and personalised guest service.
A New Chapter for Nanuku Resort Fiji
The appointment comes at an important stage in Nanuku Resort Fiji’s journey as the property continues to strengthen its position within Fiji’s luxury hospitality landscape.
With its focus on immersive experiences, family-friendly luxury and cultural connection, the resort has developed a distinctive identity within the destination.
Cakacaka’s promotion brings a homegrown Fijian hotelier with more than two decades of industry experience into the General Manager role. His combination of international hospitality exposure and deep knowledge of Fiji provides continuity for Nanuku while supporting its ambitions for the future.
As Vuli Cakacaka takes the helm, Nanuku Resort Fiji enters its next chapter with a leadership approach centred on luxury with soul, empowered people and authentic Fijian hospitality.
