Raffles Hotel Le Royal Earns Another MICHELIN Key
Raffles Hotel Le Royal in Phnom Penh has once again earned a prestigious MICHELIN Key, marking the second consecutive year the iconic Cambodian property has received the distinction.
Announced in September 2026, the recognition places Raffles Hotel Le Royal among Cambodia’s most exceptional hotels featured in the MICHELIN Guide. The Phnom Penh landmark is one of just 12 hotels in the country to receive a MICHELIN Key this year.
The MICHELIN Guide uses its Key distinction to highlight hotels that deliver outstanding experiences, in a concept comparable to the MICHELIN Star system used for restaurants. The guide has described Raffles Hotel Le Royal as “Phnom Penh’s top hotel by far” and highlighted its location just steps from the Royal Palace.
A Historic Phnom Penh Hotel Since 1929
Raffles Hotel Le Royal has been part of Phnom Penh’s hospitality landscape since first opening its doors in 1929. Over the decades, the property has become closely associated with the city’s history, culture and luxury hospitality scene.
The hotel currently features 175 rooms and suites. Its historic character was carefully preserved during a comprehensive one-year restoration project completed in 2019.
Rather than simply recreating its past, the restoration brought together elements of French colonial architecture, traditional Khmer influences and Art Deco design. This combination gives the property a distinctive character, blending heritage details with contemporary comfort.
A Location Close to Phnom Penh’s Landmarks
One of the hotel’s defining features is its central location in the Cambodian capital. Guests staying at Raffles Hotel Le Royal are within easy reach of some of Phnom Penh’s most recognisable attractions, including the Royal Palace.
The location makes the property a convenient base for travellers looking to experience the city’s historic landmarks, cultural attractions and urban atmosphere while staying in a heritage hotel.
Recognition for Personalised Hospitality
The second consecutive MICHELIN Key also reflects the hotel’s focus on personalised service and attention to detail.
Dagmar Lyons, General Manager of Raffles Hotel Le Royal, said the recognition reflects the passion and precision of the hotel’s team while highlighting the enduring elegance of the historic property.
For guests, this approach is reflected in the hotel’s emphasis on creating experiences that combine traditional luxury with a more personal style of hospitality.
Part of the Global Raffles Legacy
Raffles Hotel Le Royal is part of Raffles Hotels & Resorts, a luxury hospitality brand with roots stretching back to the opening of Raffles Singapore in 1887.
Since then, the Raffles name has expanded to destinations around the world, becoming associated with elegant properties, personalised service and distinctive guest experiences.
The Raffles brand is part of Accor, one of the world’s major hospitality groups. Accor operates more than 5,100 properties and 10,000 food and beverage venues across 110 countries.
What the 2026 MICHELIN Key Means for Raffles Hotel Le Royal
The 2026 MICHELIN Key adds another significant achievement to the long history of Raffles Hotel Le Royal.
Receiving the distinction for a second consecutive year highlights the property’s combination of historic heritage, distinctive architecture, central location and personalised hospitality.
For travellers visiting Phnom Penh, the recognition further places Raffles Hotel Le Royal among the city’s notable luxury accommodation options, offering an opportunity to experience Cambodia’s capital from within one of its most historic hotels.
