Amar Lalvani Appointed Hyatt Hotels Corporation’s First Chief Creative Officer

Hyatt Hotels Corporation has appointed Amar Lalvani as its first-ever Chief Creative Officer, expanding his existing responsibilities as President and Creative Director of Hyatt’s Lifestyle Group. Effective immediately, Lalvani will take on the newly created global leadership role while continuing to serve on Hyatt’s senior leadership team.

Reporting directly to Mark Hoplamazian, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Hyatt, Lalvani will help shape the company’s global brand strategy, focusing on design, culture and distinctive guest experiences across its portfolio.

A New Creative Leadership Role at Hyatt

The creation of the Chief Creative Officer position reflects Hyatt’s continued focus on strengthening its brands and delivering more distinctive hospitality experiences.

In his expanded role, Lalvani will work across Hyatt’s global portfolio to define what makes each brand unique and translate those identities into meaningful guest experiences.

His responsibilities will span design, experience and culture, bringing him together with Hyatt’s leadership teams, hotel owners, developers and creative professionals around the world.

The objective is to strengthen brand differentiation while ensuring that each property delivers an experience aligned with its identity and target audience.

Amar Lalvani’s Journey with Hyatt

Amar Lalvani joined Hyatt in 2024 following the acquisition of Standard International, bringing with him the creative expertise and teams behind The Standard and Bunkhouse Hotels.

Following the acquisition, he became President and Creative Director of Hyatt’s newly established Lifestyle Group, headquartered in New York City.

His appointment helped strengthen Hyatt’s position in the lifestyle hospitality segment, where distinctive design, cultural relevance and personalised experiences play an increasingly important role.

His expanded responsibilities now give him a broader platform to influence the creative direction of Hyatt’s brands worldwide.

More Than 25 Years of Hospitality Experience

With more than 25 years of hospitality experience, Lalvani has played a significant role in developing and expanding distinctive hotel brands.

Earlier in his career, he led global development for W Hotels, gaining valuable experience in the growth of one of the hospitality industry’s recognised lifestyle brands.

He later acquired The Standard brand and established Standard International, helping transform The Standard from a smaller hotel collection into an internationally recognised hospitality name.

Under his leadership, Standard International expanded its portfolio through Bunkhouse Hotels and introduced concepts such as The StandardX and The Manner.

His experience across brand development, hotel design and lifestyle hospitality provides a strong foundation for his expanded role at Hyatt.

Shaping Hyatt’s Global Brand Experience

As Chief Creative Officer, Lalvani will influence how Hyatt’s brands are presented and experienced across different markets and destinations.

His focus will be on connecting brand strategy with the details that shape a guest’s stay, including property design, atmosphere, service, culture and overall experience.

Collaboration with hotel owners and development partners will also be an important part of his responsibilities, helping ensure that each brand’s vision is reflected in the properties themselves.

For Hyatt, the appointment represents a greater emphasis on creativity and brand identity as the company continues to develop its lifestyle hospitality offering.

By bringing design, culture and guest experience closer together, Lalvani will help guide the evolution of Hyatt’s brands while preserving the qualities that distinguish each one.
