Kimpton El Castelar Polanco, a newly opened boutique hotel in Mexico City’s upscale Polanco neighbourhood, has appointed Alejandro Gallegos as its new General Manager. Bringing more than 30 years of international hospitality experience, Gallegos will lead the hotel’s operations and help establish its position in Mexico City’s competitive luxury lifestyle hospitality market.
Located in the historic Roel Building, the hotel features 34 rooms and represents another addition to Kimpton’s growing presence in Mexico City. Alongside his new responsibilities, Gallegos will continue serving as General Manager of Kimpton Virgilio, overseeing both properties in the prestigious Polanco district.
Alejandro Gallegos Brings Over 30 Years of Hospitality Experience
Gallegos has built an extensive international career managing urban hotels and resort properties across Mexico, Argentina and Uruguay. His professional background includes hotel openings, property renovations, repositioning projects and operational management.
Throughout his career, he has focused on enhancing guest satisfaction, developing high-performing teams and improving commercial performance. His experience across different hospitality markets has equipped him with a broad understanding of luxury hotel operations and the expectations of today’s travellers.

Previous Leadership at Hotel Alexander Mexico City
Before joining Kimpton El Castelar Polanco, Gallegos served as General Manager of Hotel Alexander in Mexico City. During his tenure, he led the luxury property’s launch, which contributed to its subsequent recognition with a Michelin Key.
His previous leadership positions also include roles at Sofitel Montevideo Casino Carrasco & Spa in Uruguay and Grace Cafayate in Argentina.
Across these properties, Gallegos managed complex hotel operations, strengthened team performance and worked to deliver distinctive experiences for guests. His experience in different markets has helped him develop a versatile approach to hospitality leadership.
