Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre & Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) has announced the promotion of Shyama Maity to Director of Rooms, recognising her strong contribution to the property and nearly two decades of experience in the hospitality industry.

In her new role, she will take charge of the hotel’s entire Rooms Division, overseeing operations across its 287 guestrooms.
Shyama Maity Takes Charge of the Rooms Division
As Director of Rooms, Maity will oversee key departments including Front Office, Housekeeping, Guest Relations, Concierge and Reservations. Her responsibilities will span both guest-facing service and commercial performance, with a focus on maintaining consistent service standards while improving occupancy, room revenue and overall operational efficiency.
Her leadership will be particularly important for a property that caters to a diverse mix of business and leisure travellers. With the hotel serving corporate guests, MICE groups, wedding parties and leisure visitors, the Rooms Division plays a central role in ensuring a smooth experience from check-in through departure.
Nearly Two Decades of Hospitality Experience
Maity brings close to 20 years of international hospitality experience to her new position. Over the course of her career, she has developed expertise across rooms operations, guest services, housekeeping, concierge and reservations.
Her professional journey has taken her across India and New Zealand, where she has worked in both luxury and upscale hospitality environments. These experiences have helped her build a strong understanding of hotel operations while developing and leading teams focused on delivering high levels of guest satisfaction.
A Key Leadership Role at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre
Maity joined Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre in 2024 as Rooms Division Manager. During her tenure, she has contributed to streamlining rooms operations and supporting the hotel’s varied business requirements.
The property is closely associated with Hyderabad’s growing MICE and business travel sector, while also welcoming guests for weddings, social events and leisure stays. Managing such a diverse guest profile requires a Rooms Division that can balance efficiency with personalised service, an area where Maity has played an important role.
Her promotion therefore reflects not only her individual performance but also the hotel’s continued investment in experienced leadership and internal talent development.
Driving Guest Experience and Commercial Performance
In her new position, Maity will also focus on strengthening the commercial performance of the Rooms Division. This includes initiatives related to average daily rate (ADR), revenue per available room (RevPAR) and occupancy, alongside maintaining the quality and consistency expected from the Novotel brand.
At the same time, her role will extend beyond numbers and operational targets. Developing teams, mentoring colleagues and creating more personalised guest experiences will remain important elements of her leadership approach.
For a convention-focused hotel that regularly manages large-scale group movements, conferences and events, maintaining coordination between different rooms-related departments is essential to delivering a seamless stay.
An Impressive Career Across Leading Hospitality Brands
Before joining Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre, Maity held leadership positions with several well-known hospitality brands.
Her professional experience includes roles with Hyatt, Grand Hyatt Goa, Hyatt Regency Kolkata, The George Christchurch and Rydges Latimer Christchurch. Her career has also provided exposure to hotel operations and pre-opening projects, adding breadth to her operational expertise.
This combination of international experience and hands-on operational knowledge positions her well for her expanded responsibilities at Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre.
Strengthening Leadership at a Key Hyderabad Hospitality Destination
Maity’s elevation to Director of Rooms comes at a time when Hyderabad continues to strengthen its position as a major destination for business travel, conferences, exhibitions and large-scale events.
With its connection to HICC and its established MICE offering, Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre occupies an important position within the city’s business hospitality landscape. Strong rooms leadership will be crucial as the property continues to cater to individual travellers as well as large groups and event-led demand.
Through Maity’s new role, the hotel is reinforcing its focus on operational excellence, people development and guest-centric hospitality.
Her promotion represents another step in Novotel Hyderabad Convention Centre’s efforts to build a strong leadership team capable of delivering consistent, world-class service to both domestic and international travellers.
