JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa has appointed Amrita Kaul Rawat as its new Director of Human Resources, bringing more than 15 years of hospitality experience to the luxury resort. Her appointment further strengthens the property’s focus on talent development, employee engagement and building a people-first workplace culture.
With a career spanning leading Marriott International properties across India and the UAE, Rawat brings extensive experience in human resources as well as hotel operations. Her diverse professional journey has given her a strong understanding of what it takes to build engaged teams while maintaining the high standards expected in the hospitality industry.
A Career Built Across Marriott Properties
Before joining JW Marriott Mussoorie, Rawat served as Human Resources Manager at Dubai Marriott Harbour Hotel & Suites, where she played an important role in strengthening employee engagement, leadership development and workplace culture.
Her Marriott journey also includes a significant tenure at JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, where she took on a range of leadership responsibilities during her career. Interestingly, her professional journey began in housekeeping before she progressed into leadership roles and eventually moved into the position of Director of Services.
This operational experience has allowed Rawat to develop a well-rounded perspective on hospitality, giving her insight into both the employee experience and the day-to-day realities of hotel operations.
Experience in Hotel Pre-Opening and Operations
Rawat was also part of the team involved in the successful pre-opening of JW Marriott Aerocity in New Delhi. Pre-opening assignments are often among the most demanding phases of a hotel’s development, requiring teams to build processes, establish workplace cultures and prepare employees to deliver a consistent guest experience from day one.
The experience added another dimension to Rawat’s professional background and strengthened her understanding of organizational development, hotel operations and team building.
A Strong Focus on People and Workplace Culture
Throughout her career, Rawat has placed people development at the heart of her leadership approach. Her experience includes working on associate engagement, leadership development, organizational initiatives, sustainability programmes and employee well-being.
For today’s hospitality industry, where employee experience has a direct connection with guest satisfaction, effective human resources leadership plays an increasingly important role. Rawat’s approach combines business priorities with a strong emphasis on creating an environment where employees can learn, grow and build long-term careers.
Her appointment at JW Marriott Mussoorie comes at a time when hospitality organizations are placing greater emphasis on attracting, developing and retaining skilled talent.
Driving Talent Development at JW Marriott Mussoorie
In her new role as Director of Human Resources, Rawat will oversee the resort’s human resources strategy, with a focus on talent development, leadership capability building, diversity and inclusion, employee well-being and workplace engagement.
She will work alongside the resort’s leadership team to strengthen a workplace environment where employees feel valued, supported and empowered to deliver personalized experiences to guests.
For a destination resort such as JW Marriott Mussoorie Walnut Grove Resort & Spa, creating a strong internal culture is particularly important. Employees are an integral part of the guest experience, and investing in their professional development can help create a more consistent and meaningful level of service.
Strengthening the Resort’s People-First Approach
With more than 15 years of hospitality experience and a career that combines human resources leadership with operational exposure, Rawat brings a broad perspective to her new position.
Her extensive experience within the Marriott portfolio, along with her background in employee engagement and organizational development, positions her to play an important role in shaping the resort’s people strategy.
As JW Marriott Mussoorie continues to focus on service excellence, talent development and employee experience, Rawat’s appointment is expected to further support its efforts to create a workplace culture where hospitality professionals can thrive while delivering thoughtful experiences to guests.
